How much gear do you take on a gig?

My big problem is that I live in an apartment so I have to carry all my gear in one trip. So, I had 2' x 3/4" thick steel plate welded on to a 2 wheel dolly to carry my MSA U-12 and Nashville 400, and I carry my telecaster in a gig bag on my back. All pedals and chords fit in the gig bag, and storage part of my steel case. What I now need to figure out is how to get my resonator to the gig also.

I used to haul around a Dual Fender Showman, and a Leslie large speaker system (this is the real organ Leslie).
A D12 MSA guitar, 10 pedals and 7 knee levers, a Conn strobo-tuner and a satchel full of parts, strings, etc, the usual.
Now in the last 16 years, usually A S10 Sho-Bud, 34 lbs, an old crate amp, 29 Lbs, foot pedal and the same old satchel....al

I take as little as I can get away with and still cover the gig. I never take more than one instrument. I take a combo amp or a rack and 2 speakers. For a big gig I'll take the rack and 4 speakers.
I used to use two combo amps a lot, but lately I use the rack system instead.

I play both steel and lead guitar, and I also sing harmony, so:
- Emmons LeGrande III
- Fender Telecaster B-bender
- Peavy Session 500 (for the steel)
- Peavy Classic 50 (for the guitar)
- Pac-A-Seat which holds my cords, stomp boxes, tuner, volume pedal, extra strings, picks, bars etc.
- 3 microphones and 3 microphone stands + 1 guitar stand
For smaller gigs I sometimes run both instruments through my Session 500 to save space.

Sadly, Bills photo above looks all to familiar. As I am just returning to gigs, ( next week) I will be taking a Nashville 400, Mr Carter D10, a pac a seat with whatever will fit in it ( a lot as you know ) My Tele or Strat and the Fender Hot Rod Delux amp.
In stead of whats wrong with this picture I think it should be whats wrong with these people !
My only hope and prayer is that the group I am playing with doesn't require me to play some Bass as well...( 62 J Bass and Hartke system ) IF that happens I am clearly requesting that the name of the band be simply "Tony". And to think 6 months ago I could have done a gig with two hands, the Tele and the Delux !
Are we having fun yet ?

After many years of packing my quad Bigsby, 4 x 10 Fender amp., footpedal and Echolette up three flights of outdoor, steel plated,fire-escape stairs to the 3rd floor TV studio, I always dreamed that there had to be a better way.
In the mid-70's I reduced this to my dbl-10 Emmons, pack-seat, and Session400; later added a ProFexII w/stand and a 2nd Peavy amp.
Now the older I've gotten, I've reduced it down to a Peavy LA 400-12 inch and a sgl neck Rick Bakelite....along with a Yamaha drum stool so the guitar won't slip off my short, fat legs.
By the way Al, the CHAIR of YOURS...does look like a commercial type chair, but the real question is: WHAT ARE ALL OF THE FOLDED TOWELS FOR? Are you REALLY that short????

I take my PS-67 http://www.geocities.com/Nashville/6718/dbalde.html to the early rehersals and gigs until I get a feel for how serious they are about "Country" and then I bring the "Univeral" out.
[This message was edited by db on 08 February 2002 at 09:41 PM.]
