A Humbled Steel Player

Post by Dave Ristrim »

Hi you guys,
I just wanted to let you know that I have read all the replies regarding the Buy/Sell thread. I understand and will comply with the overall consensus. I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, so peace brothers.
On a lighter note...
I was disecting some steel playing on some early McBride and the Ride the other day. I believe it was Steve Fishell playing on the record. I was amazed at how staight ahead the playing sounded, but it didn't lay out on the neck the way I thought it would. All the sudden, I found some new pockets and rediscovered some old ones. Thank you Steve. Then I moved on to some other cuts with Gary Morse on steel. Same thing! Another course on good steel playing. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, I personaly needed to go back and reacquaint myself with more playing styles to expand my own. I love Green, Emmons etc., but let us not forget some of the other guys out there.
gotta go practice
Dave

Thank you Larry and give me call sometime if you want to get together. I really need to start connecting with some of the other steel players in the area. I've been here over 2 years and have been kind of reclusive.
