800 bands are showcasing here over the next week.
Which of you pedal steelers are playing and where?

Kerry,

I'll be doing my usual gig with the Kevin Fowler Band. We'll be doing the 1 AM slot at the Broken Spoke on Friday, March 15th.

Will you be playing anywhere?

Keep on pickin'!

Hey Glenn, thanks for your reply. I hear good things are happening for your group.

Last year there were alot of steel players from all over participating in SXSW and the alternative non-SXSW venues also.

I'm doing a pick-up gig at Club 21, Uhland, Saturday the 16th with the Rusty Doherty band

Do you know of any out-of-town steelers that are playing this week ?

Kerry,

I don't know if any out-of-town steel pickers are going to be playing yet this week. Two Tons of Steel and Eleven Hundred Springs both played at the Broken Spoke last night. (Did anyone see their sets? Both of these bands are great!)

How 'bout it "forum buds", are any of you not-from-Austin pickers gonna be in our fair city for SXSW?

Keep on pickin'!

Well, it doesn't do much good now, but I played last night at The District with a band called Life Of Crime. They put an all-Detroit Showcase together and we had a blast. That's quite an awesome town you got there.

Where is the Drink?, where is "The District"? Jeez I feel like a stranger in my own town sometimes. So many places in this town seem to just come and go almost overnight.

Tommy I caught your set with Bill Kirchen at the Spoke, always a lot of fun.

All discerning steel lovers in Austin for this SXSW thing shouild remember that Bert Rivera plays his usual show at Artz Rib House on South Lamar on Sunday at 6.30. I don't believe it is advertized in any of the SXsoWhat sites.
