Golden Anniversary ??

Something Smiley posted in Music/Carl Smith got me to thinking. He mentioned Tommy Hill writing Slowly for Webb Pierce. My question is: Was it 1952 or 1953 ?? If it was 53, then I'm a year early but in case it wasn't perhaps we ought to take notice of it this year. Has it really been 50 years since all of this music got started ?? I'm outta here as I'm starting to feel senile again !!

Paul-I had a music store in 1953 and I'm sure thats when I sold all those records of "slowly". I used to read your articles in Frets magazine back then too. I appreciated your writing about steel guitar.....thanks for those years...al

Al: Now that I think of it (and perhaps I should have done that first....) it was 1953.
We have a whole year to get ready and by then all those guys posting over in Lloyd and Bobbe's Tone serial will be able to jump on this band wagon and give Bud Issacs and Bigsby one heck of a party !! Why, Bobbe or chas could even play the Bigsby's they have !!
