Steel Instructor In/Near Des Moines, Iowa?

Post by Kim West »

HELP me, please! I've recently purchased an old Zane Beck 12-string, 4 pedals and 5 knee levers, and I really don't know how to play. Is there someone near me who can teach me a few things? My knowledge is low; my desire is high. Post a reply here, e-mail me, or phone me at 515.274.5950. Thanks so much.

Kim.. I have been away from the steel for many years and just now getting back into it. I recently visited a gentleman I met here on the forum. While at his home I watched about 20 minutes of a video made by Jeff Newman who plays a 12 string. The entire package is $220 but no doubt worth it. I am going to order that course because I am truley impressed with what I saw. It is a large package and a wise investment. Look him up under instructional material. Not to put a local teacher down but knowing what I need to play good steel I will use that course. And then if I feel I need more I will visit with him personally under the TOP GUN program which is pricey but... probably worth it. I just think you gotta get the Lesson material down first. Then you might just be satisfied where you are at playing. Good Luck

Hi Kim....check with Devere Adamson in Indianola. He will be familiar with the players in the Des Moines area. He's retired from his music store "Deveres Guitar Store" but the store is still operating in Indianola.
