Chuck Campbell ... saves homeowner from fireball!

Post by Ann Fabian »

Many of you know Chuck Campbell as a fantastic Sacred Steel guitarist. He also manages to gig and tour, along with a fairly dangerous day job, Natural GAS leak investigations for a local utility.

A few days ago, while doing a "routine" inspection, Chuck turned hero for sure. If the homeowner had been the one doing what Chuck was doing, she most likely would have been fatally blown up against the wall.

As it turned out, Chuck himself was burned ... thank goodness he was wearing his protective clothing and glasses, as that is what made the difference in this fluke accident.

He was attempting to light a rather old furnace and the pilot orifice was larger than usual, apparently allowing more gas to escape than expected.

Chuck himself was blown against the wall, both hands were burned, along with his face, but the left hand is the main burn. He is definitely counting his blessings at this point.

The "GOOD NEWS" in his words, "I can still play steel and I've been playing my psg every day!"

His doctor does not think skin grafts will be necessary.

Chuck said he and The Campbell Brothers expect to keep all their gigs and commitments coming up.

We send Chuck our prayers for a speedy full recovery SOON!

Chuck wanted me to share with all of you his 2nd Carter he just received 2 weeks ago. Don't worry, it just looks like it's on fire Image He has not stopped raving about it (loves the colors and reflections it puts off). So, Chuck this is for you:

Chuck also says "Thank You" to all who so warmly received him at the St. Louis Convention recently. He plans to be posting on the Forum as a Posting Member soon. Chuck reads this Forum very regularly. So, feel free to post your Get Well Wishes and other comments for Chuck on this thread, or email him if you prefer: campbellbrothers@campbellbrothers.com .

Any questions about this custom Carter, please feel free to contact us by phone or email.

Get well Chuck!
I hope to see you again in St.Louis.

It seems someone wants you to remain here for a while.

The Heavenly Choir will have to wait.

I just saw Chuck and the rest of the Campbell brothers a week or so ago here in Minneapolis. Chuck was playing this very same Carter on stage, and to say the least, he made it sing.

Sorry to hear about his accident, but am glad to hear that he is still able to play. God does keep His hand on His Children. Our best wishes go out to Chuck for a speedy recovery.

If you get a chance, don't miss these guys if they come to your town. They are awesome to watch and get ready to clap, shout, sing, and dance your night away.

I am trying to get tickets for Robert Randolph for a show on the 18th in Minneapolis, but they have not been printed yet. This is another great sacred steel player that will knock your socks off.

Carter has made Chuck very happy with this guitar, and it sounds great in live performances.

Dennis

Wow, Chuck- I'm sorry to hear about your painful close call. I wish you well on working thru the agony of the burns- I have heard that they are about the most painful kind of injury. May God grant you swift and complete healing.

I once moved into a place and the Gas Company wouldn't come over and light the pilot light! Claimed their liability insurance would not permit that! Unbelievable...

I got to see Chuck's new guitar upclose and personal after their set in Bethlehem... he had just gotten it the day before. It's beautiful, and he plays it like no one else can.

God bless you Chuck and I wish you a speedy recovery
