Buddy - Triple Play

Post by randy »

I was listening to the sound tracks to Buddy's "Triple Play" on "Swingin Our Way".

I don't ever remember getting caught up in better bass runs. Whoever is playing bass on that album is an absolute killer.

What a bonus to get to hear that kind of a musician playing with the greatest Steel player ever.

Hi there! You mentioned listening...rather than viewing.... In the video you have the opportunity to SEE some pretty fancy BASE RUNS as well! You shouldn't want to miss it

Hi Ray. Actually I have seen the video but I was so focused on Buddy that I barely noticed anything else. When you listen to the background tracks on his instructional tape, all you get is those great background instrumentals.

I'm not exagerating when I say I've never heard better bass. It's almost like Buddy is doing it himself. That's how tight it is.

David Smith was the bass player on "Triple Play."

David Smith is one of the best around!

For another fine bass part check out "It's My Lazy Day" on Darrell McCall's "Lily Dale" album. It's Buddy... Image

Thanks for the info Greg. I don't have a list of the musicians on that tape for some reason. Are you also on it? I really like your work on the other BE albums. You sure know how to accent the man's work. I've got Jack Heerns album also and you do the same great stuff on it.

Earnie, I've got that one. I'll have to take another listen.
[This message was edited by randy on 01 February 2002 at 11:59 AM.]

You asked about the video?

TRIPLE PLAY is purportedly B.Emmon's first Music Video and the tune is taken from the Ray Pennington/Emmons co-produced album "Swingin' Our Way" with the Swing Shift Band on Step One Records, 1300 Division St., 3rd Floor, Nashville, TN37203 (615) 255-3009.

No idea if this is still available or not. I've had mine several years now.

Good Luck to you!

Step One Records went out of business. Videos aren't available anymore. They were out long before they went out of business. I asked if they were going to make more and they said probably not. Sorry!

I remember very well when many of us wrote letters in support of TRIPLE PLAY getting a fair shake, but the response was, "sorry, but the market doesn't support instrumentals". Too bad... www.genejones.com

Ernie. This converstion makes me really glad I taped that old show on TNN called New Country. It was Ray and Buddy promoting the album "Swingin Our Way".
