Do You Know anything about a Steel Guitar??
A neighorboring town brought in a " MOTOVATIONAL" speaker to encourage business growth. He talked about ADVERTIZING<and things to help business.HE HAD ALL THE ANSWERS. After the meeting I asked him"What do you kow about Steel Guitars? He said NOTHING but my friend runs a music store. I then showed him a picture of my "CUSTOM LISCENSCE PLATE" A FULL PAGE STORY FROM THE NEWSPAPER"about my Steel store, and my my 800# SGW_EDN3. I sure hope he went home and looked at my website.. Continuing-the speaker was saying it helps for free publicity. A 800 phone # coupons and knowledge about the product you are selling. After the program I asked him if he knew anything about steel guitars. He said " _NO BUT MY FRIEND OWNS A MUSIC STORE". I then showed him full page stories the newspaper had done on me and Steel Guitars. I gave him a card with my phone # 800-SGW-EDN3 and a picture of my special Steel Guitar liscence plate. and my website. Ed

Good move!! I would have done the same thing! Not sure what his 800# is but, I would use mine, if he were me. 900# is the best way to go though. I thought about a "Steel Guitar Sex 900". Probably get me mixed up with Star Trek!
I'll consider this a wee bit more when I have breakfast tonight. Gotta go find my crayons first.....Sorry!

There was no"Punch" line- I was trying to point out that VERY FEW PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT STEEL GUITARS.Case in point. I get many calls from telemarketers. Yesterday I got a call from some group seeking "donations" I said" I am in the business of buying and selling Steel Guitars-What are you looking for to buy?" Naturally they hung up. BUT one more telemarketer at least heard the word Steel Guitar. After that they probably turned to their fellow co-workers and ask "What,s a Steel Guitar>?" Ed

The way to get rid of those pesky telemarketers is to ask them for their "home" phone number. If they say no, you say,"Well, you've got mine!". Tom Diemer shared this idea with me. Until I get up the courage to do this, I will keep going to see "motivational" speakers. Ed, what's that toll free number? Jus, kiddin'!

The key to sales is selling what people want. If you sell indiscriminate wares, then you need to create interest. Much easier to sell what people want. Imagine if you could open a Fender only store. Think you might get some foot traffic? Hey, that's an idea! Fender should go Fender only franchise! "Hey, let's go to the Fender store." See, now one of their top execs will suggest this and i'll get nuttin'.
Maybe he could kick me a guitar or two for the idea.
