Printer problem?

Why does my HP printer pop up a note saying ink cartridge is not installed properly! Take it out and reinstall it and it's still a no go?? Can't find anything in the manual that focuses on this problem?

Did you run the 'alignment' utility. Some
will give a " you should align your new
cartridge" message any time you put a
new one in or put an old one back in.
