Two airline tickets for me and pedal steel?

Post by Nate Hofer »

Has anyone ever bought an extra airline ticket for their pedal steel?

I'm wondering if this is even possible/feasible. I don't travel for music often but I do need to travel from KC to Ohio at the end of Sept. and if the ticket is cheap enough I might try this so that I don't have to worry about buying a good flight case. I don't know.

If I could afford it I would do that for any instrument.

I looked into this recently too, since I'm maybe flying back from a tour later this fall. It's definitely possible (I know larger individuals get two seats for comfort sometimes). But it will likely cost more than the value of a decent hard case + checking a bag. If my steel was really old and valuable though I'd probably buy it a seat.

I'm curious to hear about this Ohio gig, that's where I'm from, got a show or recording sesh?
