Jimmy Day bio on YouTube

Post by Michael Lester »

Ran across this almost by accident... kind of sorry I found it. I always liked Jimmy Day's contributions to classic country music.
If this bio is true, it sure cast a shadow on him as a person. I'm always saddened to find out that people I respected in public had dark corners in their lives.

I couldn't get the URL to copy and paste here.

The title is "Straightening Out - The Jimmy Day Story"

Didn't watch the whole thing , thought it was too much about Jimmy's personality and not nearly enough about his great accomplishments , playing , and innovations on the pedal steel . Jimmy Day deserves much better.

That guy has a whole series on steel players. I really like what he’s trying to do but I also think some stuff didn’t sit right. In the Emmons video he has picture of Buddy sitting in front of an Emmons guitar with a caption saying it was from the 50s. Missed some pretty basic facts right there

ryan cook is a very talented singer songwriter who has a real love for steel guitar. i think he's is making these videos to give the neophyte some background into steel guitar history.

knowing ryan, he'd probably be interested in anyone's feedback, and would probably not mind chatting about steel guita if you reached out.

Remember, it seems like most things online Now days are all big lies pretty much. Who cares what anyone's past is. Can't cry over spilt milk. Remember the book that says if you don't forgive you won't be forgiven. Let JC take care of that.

I've communicated with the guy who puts these together: Ryan Cook. He is actually a full time student living in Thailand and does these videos on the side for the fun of it. He isn't a steel player himself and so I'd give him some slack. He does this for the love of it. He isn't a steel historian or journalist. He is a very nice guy and is certainly open to being corrected when he makes a mistake.

I realize anything can be true but seems like most people don't like to bring up people's past after they die. It's very possible that he could have been a very poor person through the years.
