To my knowledge, Quicktime has nothing to do with YouTube. Normally, the videos are either Flash or more recently, HTML5 video. There may be some Quicktime videos there, but I have never seen one. I have Quicktime on my computers, but I can't ever remember using it. It sucks compared to other media players.

Win XP media player may not play .mov files, but the one in Windows 7 does, so I don't have Quicktime installed.
Years ago, I lost interest in Quicktime due to the fact that it's bloatware, and it's very invasive and intrusive in your system. It's hard to get rid of as well. When I still needed to be able to play .mov files occasionally, I moved to Quicktime Alternative, a much less intrusive application that plays Quicktime videos, but doesn't try to take over the computer like Quicktime does. Nowadays, all that's just a dim memory, and I seldom even encounter .mov videos anyway.

I don't see many .mov files either. If I do, I either lose interest in watching it, or if I can download it, I use video conversion software to convert it into something my other media players will play.

Lop off its head! Yes, you can safely uninstall Quicktime, via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. This will also uninstall the Quicktime automatic updater, saving you a few CPU cycles now and then.Sonny Jenkins wrote:So,,,,I guess I'm good to remove,,,(or try?) it from my computer???
If you ever come across a resource that requires Quicktime to view it, your browser will let you know.

Take it all off if you don't use it. Unfortunately, I need iTunes to interface with my iPad. I removed all Apple crap from my laptop, but lft it on my desktop.
