Hey Reggie, that sounds great! Sounds like you must have been listening to Mr Hughey quite a bit. Great playing. I would like to know what kind of guitar and amp and equipment you were using. Thanks for sharing with us. You have every reason to be very proud and I bet you had a little shiver run up your spine when you were doing it and perhaps when you heard it played back.

1979 Emmons push pull with Profex II and a Nashville 400. I was very surprised that it sounded that good. John Hughey did the turnaround on the Mike Bowling version of "Something Out of Nothing". Guys, what is so great is, that all of our songs are country! I am very blessed to have played with these guys 900 times!
As a side note: On our break last Friday night, the guys got together and listened to some of the Darryl Singletary CD with Mike Johnson on steel. They love it as much as me!

Newman settings.. and if so which one?

Paul- I will do that.
BobG- I use my own settings. I used Larry Sasser settings for a long time. Now, I use a 5B>DL>RV with highs enhanced a little and the Plate reverb mix increased to 36.
Buck- I'm waiting on you to come set in one night! Tommy Lofton was here with me in March.

Hey Reggie - AWESOME tone and feel!! The whole band sounds tight too w/some good harmony vocals on the last couple of lines. I wish you were closer to Conn., I'd like to come see the band. Nothing beats an Emmons in the right hands!

I just went back and listened again. Reggie, you were playing for an appreciative crowd. You got a really nice hand at the end of the solo. They were actually listening to the steel!!! Great job.

Reggie, I keep replaying your solo trying
to figure out how you get that sustain.
Are you keeping the Profex and amp volume settings high and gradually adjusting with your volume pedal?
If so do you mind telling me what you have them set at ?

BobG- Some of the sound you are hearing is coming through the JBL main speakers. Our soundman, who is a steel guitar fanatic, kicks me some extra juice when I play an interlude. My amp gains are set in the medium range, and the Profex is at about 65%, on the front, and as high an output as possible on the rear.
BTW, the Nashville 400 nor the Profex has been modified.
