Who's the biggest fan of your playing?
My wife is very supportive of my playing, but it's our 4-year-old daughter who takes the cake. Whenever we meet somebody new somewhere (chuch, grocery store, wherever....), she proudly introduces me by saying, "This is my daddy, Bill. He plays pedal steel guitar." Bless her heart. She also says she wants to learn steel someday. I hope that interest lasts!

My Mother and my year and a half old Grandaughter are my biggest fans. My Mother has never heard a good steel player and my Grandaughter is not old enough to know the difference, but she does love music.

For awhile there, my biggest fan was Marty Muse's infant son David. He'd go crazy with joy when Marty would play my Texas Dance Time album. I think Marty had just slightly bruised feelings over the matter.
I'm not sure my wife Kathy quite understands just what it is I play. That must account for MY slightly bruised feelings.

My brand new wife of seven months, would get the knod for first place fan while a young man I've only recently met, about three years ago, used to come and listen to me play when I was just 17-18 years old. He has a vast historical knowledge not only of the steel guitar, but virtually every old time artist that ever played the Opry; various guiars, etc. He has kindly distributed my tape (nothing fancy!) to folks all over the country and when he comes up to Portland to visit his folks during Xmas, he always brings along my tape and listens to it on the airliner. He has to be in a close tie for the first place FAN! I feel very humble and appreciative for this kind of following.
He found my first Rick and put a deposit on it to hold it for me! Not many friends like that!! Michael Misetich is the man, of Irving, Texas.......also a GREAT Jerry Byrd fan!
