Post by Lindley »

Thanks Guys.

Lindley,

Funny you should mention that! I just got my hands on a version of that about a week ago and was wondering the same thing. I mentioned it to a friend of mine, and he said he thought, or had heard, that it was Steve Polusick (sp?).

Whoever it was did a SUPER job, and that is one of the best vocal versions of the song I have ever heard. But then, I don't remember hearing a Gene Watson song that was not about as "Good as it gets". I love it! Image

If it's on Step One Records, it's Buddy Emmons.

I think it is Step One. I found the intro, tab, but I can't find the break...

I thought to myself, “that sounds a lot like Buddy, but then again it doesn’t”. I don’t have the original record, but it is still a GREAT version of the song!

In fact, on Gene's last CD, he gave special recognition to BE for doing the session with him. Otherwise, I understand that he's pretty much given up on session work. Image

Also, a great gospel CD by Gene Watson w/BE titled, "Jesus is all I need". Buddy's solo on "my eye's are on the prize" is terrific and has been one of my favorite E9 instructional tidbits ever.
