Kind, impoverished,wanna-be steel guitarist, living on limited, senior citizen income, with his aging wife and ten hungry kids and a worthless old dog, has just one un-fulfilled wish and is hoping some generous, equally kind and sensitive Forumite will want to make this old man's last days "happy"
.....by donating me a copy of Howard White's out of print book "Highway out of Nashville" This is a book about county road musicians and written by an early day steel guiatarist for Hank Snow and recording artist himself on Hickory label.
If you can spare a copy from your dusty book shelf, I will be forever indebted to you

Damn, Ray, we are in the same boat.
The only thing I can't understand is why NO ONE HAS POSTED.(We need to help this POOR fellow, Guys)
You put this topic on early today. All kidding aside, I have just about EVERY COLLECTIBLE BOOK you can imagine, but, on the contrary, this one, my friend, I do not have. I DO have some VERY INTERESTING books and magazines from 1930-70's that are worth a little, BUT, The one I have that is the most interesting is the "BURLINGTON TIMES" newspaper with RON LASHLEY SR.(FRONT PAGE)...Jack Strayhorn when he was working for Emmons at the young age of 14 or so. And Ron Lashley Sr. Dad, when HE worked there too.(3 Generations have and is STILL at the Emmons Co.) This is dated JULY 1969, and Neil Armstrong is on the front page "WALKING ON THE MOON" also. The paper is quite YELLOW

Spoke with Howard's friendly and wonderful wife just this morning. She indicates they'd love to do a second printing of the book but not certain today's market among today's steel players would/could justify the expense of doing so.
For those who don't know, Howard White was an early steel man for Hank Snow, recorded a couple of records of his own playing and has been prominent in the Nashville crowd.
How many thousand books do you suppose we here on the Forum could help Howard sell? The book "Highway out of Nashville" is about the life of "road musicians" and all...... and is purportedly quite an informative, contribution to country music history.
Well, how 'bout it guys? I'll take five copies!
