I want to hear more Haggard, Tillis, Strait, Jackson, Chestnut, Lovelace, Smith, Carl Smith, Whites,Lawerence, Pillow, Diffie, Morgan,McGraw, & more traditional singers. But, No matter what, they would get slammed by the clothes, singing, music, steel lack of or whatever
Matters not, like Buddy said, "it might as well shut down". It would be one less thing to complain about here. No fact, JMHO

It seems I remember a while back a bunch of people bashing the steel player for BR5-49. That wasn't a bashing, it was a malling and uncalled for. I think a public forum is a good thing and I know we all get loose with the keys sometimes and may even say things here that we wouldn't tell someone to their face but if you don't have something good or positive to say why say it? There's nothing positive about bashing somebody no matter how bad you may think they played. Remember it's only your opinion and we all know what that's like. I for one would like to get every steel player from the past and present to get in here and share it with us. Some guys just think differently than I do and have a different outlook that really works. I just want to find what works and anything negative doesn't fit into my plans. Just because you're having a bad day doesn't mean the rest of us want to join you. Something else too, you really show how professional you are when you say something.

You could go to the opry and boo the rockers off the stage or everyone write the Opry in protest like we did Gaylord. Rusty what would you do hit them with the bars and scratch their eyes out with the picks.

I agree with Jeff inasmuch as we know we have
freedom of speech, but we also know we can't
stand up in a movie house and yell fire !!
We have to modify our thinking with a little common sense !! What I dislike most of the Opry TV portion is all the backstage talking. This must be regarded as a compliment for the
musicians as I seem to want to hear the music more !!
I think we shoulde all respect e4ach other's opinion, but be careful and only say what we
would say in person.
Now --- What I liked most about this thread

It's the difference in playing for a living, or playing in your spare time. Lately, I have done some sessions on a per song basis.
The producer says "Play around with this one and we will see if we want steel on it." Some of them ain't real country! What do I do? I go from one extreme to the other, within my limited realm of course, trying to get on the cut. Most of you guys probably wouldn't like it. But it doesn't matter.

Reggie makes a great point -- "it doesn't matter."
In other words, no matter who you are, no matter what you play, no matter what kind of equipment you have, there will always be someone who'll swear on a stack of bibles that you sound just like a cat who's had it's tail caught in the fan belt!
So what's all the fuss about, anyway?
